Thruster

Complete overhaul of bow thrusters and stern thrusters

Preparation and Safety Measures

  • Isolating the thruster from power and hydraulic sources
  • Securing the work area and using appropriate lifting equipment

Disconnection of hydraulic systems

  • Draining hydraulic fluids and disconnecting hoses and valves

Removal of the propellers and blades

  • Loosening and extracting propeller bolts or nuts
  • Carefully detaching propeller blades to prevent damage

Disassembly of the gearbox and drive system

  • Inspecting components for wear, cracks or misalignment.

Extraction of the shaft and bearings

  • Removing the main shaft and associated bearings

Dismantling of the motor and couplings

  • Detaching the electric or hydraulic motor
  • Inspecting couplings and mounting brackets

Inspection:

  • checking the axial clearance and backlash,
  • assessment of tooth adhesion
  • assessment of bevel gear condition
  • pitch test (in the case of CPP).
